Celestine Raven talks with Wasim Arslan, the most famous Syrian singer of the Netherlands. He came to Amsterdam in 2016, as a refugee, running away from the war in his homeland. He found some healing and peace in Ruigoord, where this interview is recorded. He talks about his first difficult years in the Netherlands, about his inspirations and their positive influence. He talks about seeing his family again this year, in Syrië after the fall of Assad. On the 10th of may, Wasim’s new album was released, called “Ma Bain”, which means “In Between” and he sings about the complicated duality between oppression and freedom.
